Trekking - Rakaposhi Base Camp & Patundas Panorama

This spectacular trekking program is an ideal combination of adventure and culture, giving you an opportunity to observe the life style of various tribes residing under the shadow of snow covered mountains. This awe-inspiring trip takes you to the enchanting valleys of Hunza and Nagar in the Karakoram Range.

We Travel over the famous Karakoram Highway, along the Indus River, visiting the picturesque Hunza and Nagar valleys along side high snow covered peaks, then drive all the way up to Khunjrab pass at 4733 meters near the Pakistan - china border.

The most exciting and scenic trek starts at the beautiful village of Minapin in the Nagar valley that takes you to the most scenic base camps of Rakaposhi (7788 meters) and Diran peak (7265 meters). This exquisite green meadow with high altitude forests offers the most impressive view of these majestic peaks.

As we trek through the Hunza valley, we will see 700 year old Baltit and Altit Forts, old villages and traditional houses of Altit as well as 800 years old wooden Mosques and watch towers at Ganesh. 4th century Ad Rock Carvings on the ancient Silk Road are an astounding trip back in time. A short jeep drive to the Duiker meadow offers the unforgettable panoramic sunrise and sunset view of the Rakaposhi, Diran peak, Golden peak and Ultar group of Peaks.

Another Picturesque trek starts at the beautiful village Gulmit that takes you to one of the most beautiful vintage points in upper Hunza valley to a meadow known as PatunDas which is 4575 meters high. This gorgeous plateau offers a fairytale like beauty to look at and touches one’s imagination as we look at most of the peaks in the area including Passu group of peaks reaching 7284 to 7500 meters in height as well as Dastaghil SAR at 7895 meters, Batura Group at 7500 to 7785 meters and many countless peaks above 6000 meters. We then drive to the scenic Khunjrab National Park, winding up through the narrow gorges along the crystal clear Hunza river. Here you watch the rare wild life species of Marco polo sheep and Ibexes grazing on the green meadows.

Wild yaks are the main attraction of this Park grazing close to the Road sides. Khunjrab National Park is providing a sanctuary for rare bird species such as Falcons and Eagles and the game reserve area where tourists enjoy these wild life species and is an ideal sight for trophy hunting for a limited variety of species that are in plenty of numbers or are affecting the environment negatively. We drive up to the pass at Pak-China Border the highest paved road that connects Pakistan and China.
ITINERARY:
       
Day 01     Islamabad.
Morning arrive Islamabad, meet and transfer to Hotel, afternoon visit the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Explore the colorful bazaars and visit the shah Faisal Mosque and Damn koh to have the magnificent view of Islamabad the modern capital of Pakistan. Over night hotel.
Day 02     Chilas.
Drive to Chilas, passing through the scenic mansehra and Kohistan valley along the mighty Indus River. Enroute visit the ancient Rock carvings at Shatial and Chilas. Overnight at hotel. 12 hours
Day 03     Gilgit.
After break fast drive to Gilgit, enroute stop at Thalichi to have the magnificent view of Nanga Parbat and afternoon we visit the 7th century Ad Buddha Rock carving at Kargha. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04     Minapin.
Morning drive to Minapin village in Nagar valley, through the scenic mountain villages and a brief stop at the Rakaposhi viewpoint to have the magnificent view of the Rakaposhi, continue drive to Minapin.meals and overnight at hotel.
Day 05     Hapakun.
Today we start our first day of trek, a gradual steep walk on the pony trail through the green meadows and high altitude pine trees to this green camp site. Meals and overnight in tents.
Day 06     Rakaposhi Base camp.
An easy walk along the minapin glacier takes you through the green slopes of the meadows and a very spectacular view from the green flat ground on the banks of minapin glacier. Afternoon explore the area. Meals and overnight in tents.
Day 07     Diran Base camp.
Morning after break fast a day hike to Diran peak Base camp, cross the minapin glacier which offers one of the most scenic and unforgettable views of Rakaposhi 7788 meters and Diran peaks 7265 meters. After a shortstop trek back to the camp. Overnight in tents.
Day 08     Minapin-Karimabad.
Trek back to Minapin village through the steepy trail on the green meadows and arrive at minapin, same day drive to Karimabad. Meals and overnight at hotel. 6-7 hours.
Day 09     Karimabad.
Full day excursion in Karimabad, visit the Baltit and Altit Forts, afternoon drive to Eagles Nest at Duiker Meadow to enjoy the magnificent panoramic and sunset views of Rakaposhi, Diran peak, Golden peak and Ultar group of peaks. Overnight at hotel.
Day 10     Gulmit.
Morning visit the old wooden carving Mosques and watching towers at Ganesh, the 4th century Ad Rock Carvings on the ancient Silk Road, we continue drive to Gulmit a scenic mountain village in upper Hunza. Visit the local traditional houses and Folk Museum, after noon we drive to Borit lake. Meals and overnight in tents.
Day 11     Passu Ghar.
Today we start our first day of our trek, follow the trail along the white passu glacier through the green meadows, wild roses and flowers. Meals and overnight in Tents.
Day 12     Luzdur.
Today we cross the Passu glacier which gave an exiting ice walk through the white glacier boulders and enters to the green flat ground on the other side of the glacier. Meals and overnight in tents.
Day 13     Patun Das.
An easy but fairly steep walk goes through the high altitude Juniper trees on the green slopes we reach at the vintage point of Patundas plateau 4575 meters, offers a very spectacular panoramic views of the Passu peak 7500 meters, Batura peak 7785 meter and Dastaghil sar 7895 meters and many countless peaks of above 6000 meters, over night in tents.
Day 14     Passu.
Today we descending through the sharp ridges of Patundas meadows and we walk down to the Batura glacier and then to the Karakoram Highway from here a short drive to Passu a scenic mountain village. Overnight at hotel.
Day 15     Khunjrab Pass- Gulmit.
Morning drive to Khunjrab pass 4733 meters, enroute we see many wildlife species of Ibex, Brown Marmots and the Wild Yaks on the way through the Khunjrab National Park. After a short stop at the Pak-China Border drive back to Gulmit. Overnight at hotel.
Day 16     Chilas.
Morning after break fast we drive to Chilas enroute stop at the meeting point of the Three great mountain Ranges, the Himalayas, Karakoram and the Hindukush.after we drive to Chilas. over night hotel.
Day 17     Islamabad.
After break fast we drive to Islamabad, passing through scenic mountain villages of Indus Kohistan along the Mighty Indus River and lush green Hazara region. Overnight at hotel.
Day 18     Departure.
Morning departure to Onward Destinations.
